Valpoi: Valpoi Police have registered Crime No. 08/2026 after two persons were caught red-handed for illegally transporting a large quantity of red meat at BCP Keri in Sattari.
The offence was registered on February 1, 2026, at around 3.06 pm on the complaint of Bhagwan Redkar, son of Ramesh Redkar, aged 44 years, businessman and resident of Rumadamol, Margao.
As per the complaint, on February 1, 2026, at around 7.00 am, police intercepted two vehicles at BCP Keri and found the accused Irfan s/o Mehboob Saunshi (20), resident of Vithalapur, Karapur, Sanquelim, and Hasan s/o Rajasab Shaikh (36), resident of the same area, transporting approximately 800 kg of red-coloured meat, valued at around Rs 2 lakh.
The meat was allegedly being transported in vehicles bearing registration numbers GA-12-A-1382 and GA-03-AM-4867 in an unhygienic condition, without any valid bill, permit or authorisation from the competent authority.
Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Slaughterhouse Rules, 2001, FSS Licensing Regulations, 2011, Goa Animal Preservation Act, 1995, and the Goa, Daman and Diu Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1978.
