COLVA: Two men were arrested by Colva Police for allegedly accepting illegal bets on the ongoing IPL cricket match between PBKS and KKR in the early hours of Wednesday at Vasvaddo-Benaulim.
The arrested individuals, Imran Ballari from Moddi-Mandop, Navelim, and Ismail Bepari from Shirvodem-Navelim, were reportedly caught in the act during a police raid on a closed premises. The duo was accepting illegal wagers on the cricket match when police seized gambling-related materials and mobile phones, collectively valued at Rs 90,000.
Both men were arrested and are now facing charges related to illegal betting. The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling, particularly during high-profile events such as the IPL.
