MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have arrested two individuals, Arjun and Teju, both hailing from Jharkhand, following a complaint from the administration of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa. The duo was accused of organizing and participating in an unauthorized cultural event on the college grounds that resulted in public disorder.
According to the college administrator, the accused and several others gathered on the premises to celebrate a Nagpuri Cultural Programme without prior permission. During the event, they allegedly consumed and distributed alcoholic beverages in an open area, engaged in fights among themselves, and littered the premises with waste.
The complaint further stated that the actions of the group caused a nuisance, posed a safety risk to students and staff, and defamed the reputation of the educational institution. The accused also reportedly criminally trespassed into college buildings, escalating the seriousness of the incident.
Both accused were taken into custody and later released on bail. Police have initiated further investigation to identify other individuals involved in the incident.
