Calangute: In a late-night anti-narcotics operation, Calangute Police arrested two individuals for possession of illegal drugs near the HP Gas Godown in Naikawado, Calangute.
According to Police Sub Inspector Yogesh Mandrekar, the raid was conducted between 10:05 PM and 11:35 PM on July 28. During the operation, the police apprehended Vaman alias Sunny Deuskar (30), a resident of Saligao, who was found in possession of 1.151 kilograms of suspected ganja, valued at approximately ₹1,00,000. The substance was recovered from a Fascino scooter (GA-03-BA-0460).
Additionally, the team nabbed Hajareshaba Badiger (23), also from Saligao, for carrying 3 grams of a substance suspected to be ecstasy, worth around ₹30,000. The narcotics were found in a shoulder bag bearing the Adidas logo.
The seized substances were documented under a formal Search and Seizure Panchanama, and further investigation is currently underway.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing the drug menace in coastal areas and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.
