VALPOI/SANKHALI: Police have registered two separate cases of public gambling at Valpoi and Sanquelim, with two persons caught allegedly accepting bets in open public places.
In the first incident, Valpoi police apprehended Gurudas Gawas (61), a resident of Massordem in Sattari, near Khotodem Junction on April 7 at around 9.50 pm. He was allegedly caught accepting gambling bets from members of the public. Police seized cash amounting to ₹1,020 along with other gambling-related articles from his possession. He was placed under arrest shortly after midnight and later released on bail. The case was registered on the complaint filed by a police official on behalf of the State. Further investigation is in progress with Valpoi police.
In another case, Bicholim police booked Rama Parwar (44), a resident of Sanquelim, after he was allegedly found accepting bets near the Velguem bus stand shade on April 7 at around 7.15 pm. Police seized ₹2,100 in cash in different denominations along with gambling materials.
Both cases have been registered, and further investigation is underway.
