Colva: Colva Police arrested two persons and seized narcotic substances worth over ₹2 lakh during a targeted raid conducted at Varca in the early hours of Monday.
As per police records, Police Sub-Inspector Nikhil Khajenekar (28), attached to Colva Police Station, lodged a written complaint following a narcotic and psychotropic substances raid carried out between 5.50 am and 9.30 am on January 26 at flat No. N1/8, second floor, Aansav Verde, Varca, Salcete, Goa.
Acting on reliable and specific information, the police conducted the raid and apprehended Akash Sajith (36), a resident of Ansarvarde, Varca, and Pratik Barman (41), a resident of Aansav Verde, Varca.
During the raid, police found Akash Sajith in illegal possession of 6.79 grams of MDMA valued at ₹1,35,800 and 2.43 grams of charas worth ₹24,300. Meanwhile, Pratik Barman was found in possession of 2.02 grams of MDMA worth ₹40,400. The total value of the seized narcotic substances is estimated at ₹2,00,500.
In this connection, Colva Police registered an offence under Sections 22(c) and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further investigation is in progress. Copies of the FIR are being forwarded to the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Margao, and concerned senior officers, police said.
