PANAJI: The Panaji Police have arrested two men from Hyderabad for allegedly stealing ₹5.7 lakh from a fellow guest at a city hotel.
According to police, the complainant, Shri Madugula Karthik of Hyderabad, reported that on September 9, 2025, between midnight and 3 p.m., he was staying at Room No. 101 of Hotel Tree House Neptune in Panaji when two men, who had befriended him and shared the room, allegedly committed the theft.
The accused were identified as Thumu Raviiteja, a resident of Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad, and Shaik Ashraf, from Khammam, Telangana. The duo is alleged to have stolen ₹5,70,000 in cash from the complainant’s baggage.
A case under Section 305 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, was registered at Panaji Police Station. Acting on CCTV footage and local intelligence, the police team managed to trace and apprehend both accused on September 10, 2025.
The operation was led by PI Vijaykumar Chodankar, assisted by PSI Mahesh Naik and PC Driver Vikas Naik, under the supervision of SDPO Sudesh R. Naik and North Goa SP Rahul Gupta, IPS.
