MERCES: A senior couple sustained injuries after their scooter was hit from behind by a car at Carmibhat, Merces earlier this week. Old Goa Police have booked the car driver for rash and negligent driving.
According to a complaint lodged by HC Rajan Zalmi of Old Goa Police Station on behalf of the State, the incident occurred on 18 November 2025 around 3:35 pm. The accused, Tanaveer Bhasha Amminbhavi (27), a resident of Indira Nagar, Chimbel and native of Karnataka, was driving a Hyundai Eon (GA-08-N-7981) towards St. Cruz.
When he reached Carmibhat, Merces, Amminbhavi allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and rammed into a Hero Pleasure scooter (GA-07-H-8477) from behind. The scooter was being ridden by Udai Michel Dsouza (66), with Ms. Joanna Diana Dsouza (62) as pillion, both residents of Merces.
The impact caused the duo to fall onto the road and sustain injuries. The rider was discharged after treatment, while the pillion rider continues to undergo medical care at GMC Bambolim.
Old Goa Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway under HC Rajan Zalmi.
