PERNEM: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against a 24-year-old motorcyclist from Maharashtra for allegedly riding rashly without a valid driving licence and hitting three persons near the new toll naka at Sakral, Torxem in Pernem.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 23 at around 4.23 pm when the accused, Govind Rajendra Naik, a resident of Khalchiwadi, Kinale, Kavathani in Sindhudurg district, was riding a Yamaha FZ motorcycle bearing registration number MH-07-AR-1667. He allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, and rammed into three persons who were standing beside the road.
The victims were identified as Raju Dasharath Chavan (40) of Gogol, Margao; Amit Dasharath Chavan (31) of Paushi, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra; and Gautam Tari (40) of Chodana, Bicholim. Police said Raju Chavan and Amit Chavan sustained grievous injuries in the accident.
Based on a complaint filed by Head Constable Tukaram Anant Chavan of Mopa Airport Police Station, a case has been registered under Sections 281, 125(a) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 181 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Further investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Tukaram Chavan of Mopa Airport Police Station.
