CANACONA – In a freak accident involving a Bi-Cycle, Motorcycle and a Car, two people suffered serious injuries at Dapot-Maxem in Loliem on Saturday morning.
According to sources, a Cyclist from Kajalkar-Loliem heading towards Canacona on NH-66 road reportedly took a sudden right -turn on reaching near Dapot grounds, while a motorcyclist riding KTM Duke Motorbike (no registration number on the Motorbike) coming from Karwar in the same direction, got his motorcycle rammed into the cycle from behind.
The cyclist fell down, while the motorcyclist, due to the hit, went astray and hit an oncoming Baleno Car (GA-07L-3343) heading towards Karwar. As the Car was literally halted, the motorcyclist too fell, throwing down the rider on the road.
The above 75 years of age cyclist, a local resident of Kajalkar in Loliem, who suffered face and legs injuries, is quickly shifted in a private vehicle to Canacona Community Health Centre, while the Hamdalli-Karnataka youth Pratik Tendulkar riding KTM Duke who suffered a leg fracture is later shifted in am Ambulance to CHC Canacona.
Canacona police, including the pink force, reached the spot of the mishap and later conducted panchanama.
Interestingly, the KTM Duke Motorbike rode by the Karnataka youth had no number plate on either side of the Motorbike. It is reportedly learnt that the youth from Hamdalli in Karnataka regularly travel to Goa, using the same Motorbike, which had no registration plates, regularly crossing not one but two checkpoints of Karnataka (@Majali) and Goa (@Polem) without any restrictions.
According to residents, it’s a serious offence to drive or ride a vehicle without registration, primarily when incidents of chain snatching by motorcycle-borne miscreants are raising their ugly heads, and why police.
The Goa police, which stops vehicles at every point, has failed to find or stop unregistered vehicles on Goan roads.
