PONDA: Ponda police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving following an accident near the Sports Complex underpass that left two persons with fracture injuries.
According to police, Ponda Police Station Crime No. 07/2026 has been registered under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, on the complaint of HC 5620 Vinod Naik of Ponda Police Station.
The complaint states that on January 13, 2026, at around 12.05 pm, the accused, Vishant Naik, a resident of Gauthan, Priol, Ponda, was driving a Maruti Suzuki Swift car in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. While proceeding from the Naga Masjid side towards Ponda city, the accused allegedly dashed into an Activa scooter near the underpass at the Sports Complex, Ponda.
The Activa scooter was proceeding from the underpass near the Sports Complex towards Savitri Hall, Curti. As a result of the collision, the rider, Rashmi Rabshetty, and the pillion rider, Prajwal Rabshetty, both residents of Ganga Nagar, Curti, Ponda, sustained fracture injuries.
Both injured persons were rushed for medical treatment. Further investigation in the case is being carried out by HC 5620 Vinod Naik of Ponda Police Station.
