Colva: In two separate incidents reported from Colva, burglars decamped with gold ornaments, valuables, and cash worth nearly ₹4 lakh from residential houses in Salcete.
In the first case, Percy Quintine Costa, a resident of Per-saraulim, Salcete, reported that between 12:56 a.m. and 3:37 a.m. on August 29, two unidentified persons broke into his house while the family was away.
The culprits allegedly forcibly damaged the rear window glass and bent the iron grill to gain entry and stole gold ornaments, other valuables, and currency notes of various countries worth ₹1.93 lakh.
The stolen items had been kept in bags and cupboards inside the house.
Investigation in this case is being carried out by LPSI Varshda Naik Dessai of Colva Police Station.
In another incident, Cruz Fernandes, resident of Pulvaddo, Benaulim, and Power of Attorney holder for Dyllen Deniz and Mellisa Deniz, who are presently residing in the United Kingdom, lodged a complaint stating that between July 7 and July 14, 2025, some unknown persons broke into the owners’ house at Colva by breaking open the door.
The burglars stole one gold necklace, two pairs of gold earrings, four gold bangles, one gold chain, and ₹18,000 in cash, with the total loss estimated at around ₹2 lakh.
LPSI Raksha Naik of Colva Police Station is investigating the matter.
Police suspect that the incidents could be part of a series of break-ins reported in the area and have stepped up patrolling in residential localities during night hours.
