OLDGOA: In North Goa, Old Goa Police have registered a case after a Chorao resident complained of being assaulted and threatened by family members over a dispute concerning mango plucking. According to the complaint lodged by Nitin Mahale (62), a resident of Sauda Wada, Chorao, the incident occurred on May 10, 2024, at around 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The accused persons have been identified as Gauri Manoj Mahale, Aadhya Manoj Mahale, Beena Milind Mahale, Mahin Milind Mahale, and Manoj Jaganath Mahale, all residents of Chorao.
The complainant alleged that Manoj Mahale trespassed into his kitchen and assaulted him with a stick, causing injuries and damaging his mobile phone.
The accused persons also allegedly issued death threats over the ongoing dispute. The case is under investigation by PSI Edwin Dias of Old Goa Police Station.
In a separate incident in South Goa, Mormugao Police have registered a case of arson and criminal trespass following a property dispute.
As per the complaint filed by Shardha Ambekar, resident of Mormugao, the accused Prakash Ambekar, also from Headland Sada, allegedly entered her property between 11:45 p.m. on October 28 and 9:30 a.m. on October 29, 2025, and set fire to the main door of her house with the intention of burning it down. The act caused an estimated loss of ₹1.5 lakh.
Further investigation in the Mormugao case is being carried out by PSI Stanley Gomes of Mormugao Police Station.
