COLVA: In a major crackdown on flesh trade rackets operating under the guise of spa services, police teams conducted two separate raids in Colva on October 7, rescuing a total of nine victim girls and arresting three women accused of forcing them into prostitution.
In the first raid, based on reliable information, PSI Rajashekhar Reddy of Colva Police Station led a team that conducted a raid at Royal Spa, Colva, around 6:30 pm, with the assistance of a decoy customer and NGO representatives. Police rescued four victim girls who were allegedly induced and forced into prostitution by two accused women — Ishika Chotu and Chandani Chotu, both residents of Colva and natives of Rajasthan.
The accused had reportedly procured and engaged the victims in sexual exploitation at the spa, offering so-called “special” or “happy ending” massages for ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 per customer, and were living off the earnings of prostitution. Both women were arrested on the spot. Further investigation is being conducted by PI Vikram Naik of Colva Police Station.
In the second case, acting on a separate tip-off, a team from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Margao, led by PI Sudiksha Naik, raided Happiness Will Grow Unisex Salon and Spa, located at Graciano Cottages, Colva, around 5:30 pm. The team rescued five victim girls and arrested accused Radhika Sharma, a resident of Colva, who allegedly managed the premises and was profiting from the earnings of prostitution.
Both cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and investigations are underway to trace other individuals possibly involved in the racket.
Police said that the victims have been provided care and counselling through NGO support, and further leads are being verified to identify the wider network behind the operations.
