MAPUSA: A public nuisance incident involving two women allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused chaos in Colvale and later in Mapusa, leading to police intervention and traffic disruptions.
According to eyewitness accounts, the women were first spotted on the service road near the Central Jail in Colvale, where they sat in the middle of the road drinking and obstructing vehicles. The situation escalated when one of them reportedly smashed a bottle, prompting bystanders to alert the police and emergency medical services.
Mapusa police rushed to the scene and shifted both women to the North District Hospital in Mapusa. However, the disturbance continued at the hospital, where one woman allegedly became aggressive and manhandled a security guard, while the other lost consciousness.
The chaos didn’t end there. The conscious woman later left the hospital premises and sat in the middle of the road outside, once again disrupting traffic and forcing police to intervene for a second time.
Mapusa police had a tough time controlling the situation and ensuring public order. Initial reports suggest that the women hail from a village in Maharashtra. Further investigation is underway.
