BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police have booked two 21-year-old youths for rash and negligent driving after their car allegedly rammed a motorcycle at Surla junction, Sankhalim, leaving the rider injured.
According to police, the incident occurred on September 18, 2025, around 4.15 pm, when accused Ashwet Betkekar (21), resident of Phanaswadi, Navelim, Bicholim, drove an Alto car (GA-06-E-9449) in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Kothambi towards Honda. On reaching Khodgini, Surla junction, the car allegedly collided with a black Royal Enfield Bullet (GA-05-V-0121) ridden by Atish Nayak Madkaikar of Bethora, Ponda.
Police said the rider fell along with his motorcycle and sustained injuries. Accused Harsh Mandrekar (21), resident of Vithalnagar, Dignem, Sankhalim, was present in the car at the time of the accident.
Investigators said that despite being aware of the accident, both accused allegedly fled the spot in their car without providing medical aid to the injured rider or informing police.
The case was registered as Motor Vehicle Accident No. 76/2025, and further investigation is being conducted by HC Babu Jangale of Bicholim Police Station.
