Panaji: The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Don Bosco College, Panjim, successfully
organized an Interclass Handball Tournament on 6 January 2026, which witnessed
enthusiastic participation and high sporting spirit among students from various
departments. A total of 16 teams competed, making it a vibrant and competitive sporting
event on campus.
The tournament was marked by fierce competition and a remarkable display of skill,
teamwork, and determination. TYBBA secured a place in the finals after a confident
performance in the semifinals, where they overcame FYBA (Psychology) with ease. On the
other side, the TYBCA-A class earned their spot in the finals after a hard-fought and closely
contested semifinal match against the SYBA class, demonstrating resilience and tactical
strength.
The finals were graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr Kendrick Gomes, Physical
Education Teacher of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School. The final match turned out to be
a one-sided affair, as the TYBBA class displayed complete dominance and emerged
victorious by a comfortable scoreline of 7–2 against the TYBCA-A class.
During the prize distribution ceremony, certificates were presented by the Chief Guest to
the winners, TYBBA, and the runners-up, TYBCA-A. Individual excellence was also
recognized, with Nathan Viegas being awarded the Best Player (Men) and Vaishnavi Sharma
receiving the Best Player (Women) for their outstanding performances throughout the
tournament.
The tournament was coordinated by Mr Ryan Pereira, Director of Physical Education and
Sports, and Ms Prissie Fernandes, Instructor in Physical Education, and concluded on a
successful note, reinforcing the importance of sports in promoting teamwork, discipline, and
a healthy competitive spirit among students
