PANAJI: Former Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Uday Madkaikar today said that Babush Monserrate is a habitual detector.
“Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate is a habitual defector; he failed to fulfil the aspirations of the party that helped him to win elections and also voters,” said Uday Madkaikar soon after he entered the Congress.
He further said he would contest the assembly elections from Panaji irrespective of anyone, including sitting MLA Babus Monserrate.
Madkaikar claimed that his supporters were not given a place in the new Mondal committees of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Those who fought against Babus are getting respect while we are being ignored. I have been with him for so many years, but now it appears that he does not need me,” he said.
Madkaikar claimed that he was a Congress member since 1984 working for the party candidates and that he joined hands with Monserrate about two decades ago. He is currently a CCP councillor.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that the Congress wave has started to develop across Goa.
“People are looking for a change and Congress as an alternative for 2022 elections,” said Kamat.
