Udupi: An individual has been arrested for illegally transporting Goa liquor worth Rs 1,42,798 near Indrali Railway Station in Shivalli village, Udupi taluk, on September 17. The accused, identified as Ananth Devadas Prabhu, was found transporting approximately 31 liters of liquor from Goa on a two-wheeler.
Acting on a tip-off, excise inspectors, led by Sub-Inspector Shubhada C Nayak, seized the liquor and the vehicle. A case has been registered, and the accused was produced in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Mangaluru division joint commissioner of excise, Dr Balakrishna C H, and Udupi excise deputy commissioner Bindu, with the assistance of sub-inspectors Divakar and Shivashankar U, and constables Prahlad and Parasappa Ingalagi. Senior driver Sudhakar also participated in the operation.
