MANDREM: A Ugandan national was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly residing in Goa without valid travel documents, Mandrem Police said.
The accused, identified as Ms. Nakimera Muhammad (25), was found staying illegally at Sweet Lake, Khalchawada, Arambol, Pernem. She holds a Ugandan passport bearing number A00859998, valid from October 4, 2022, to October 3, 2032, but did not possess a valid visa, police said.
Police Sub-Inspector J. Abhishekh Chodankar of Mandrem Police Station registered Cr. No. 70/2025 under Section 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, based on a complaint filed on behalf of the State.
The alleged violation came to light around 9:19 am on June 26 at Madhalawada, Arambol, and the arrest was made at 1:00 pm the same day. Police confirmed that all Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the arrest. The accused was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Pernem, who remanded her to judicial custody.
Further investigation is underway under PSI J. Abhishekh Chodankar of Mandrem Police Station.
