Canacona: A 61-year-old British national was found dead in her rented room at Galjibagh, Poinguinim, Canacona, on Friday morning.
As per police information, at around 10:22 am, Canacona Police received a phone call from Swapnil Bhandari informing that a foreign woman had expired inside a room at Galjibagh. Police rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Katharine Mary Babington (61), a resident of London, United Kingdom, who had been staying in a rented room at Galjibagh for the past four months.
Police inquiry revealed that at around 9:15 am, her sister Rosemary Patricia Babington visited her room and found Katharine lying on the bed and not responding. She immediately called for an ambulance, and the victim was shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, by 108 ambulance services, where the on-duty doctor declared her brought dead.
During the inquiry, the sister stated that Katharine had been suffering from breathing problems and was undergoing medical treatment for the same.
Police conducted the scene of occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama at the spot. The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
