PANAJI: Shree Damodar High School delivered a commanding performance to seal a 134 run victory over Mahila Nutan High School in the semi final of the U 14 President Cup inter school cricket tournament. The match, played at the S K Ground in Molcornem, saw a one sided contest as the Salcete side excelled in both batting and bowling.
After winning the toss, Mahila Nutan High School chose to bowl first, a decision that quickly backfired. Shree Damodar High School capitalised fully, posting a massive total of 227 without losing a wicket in their allotted 25 overs. The opening pair dominated from start to finish, building a flawless partnership. Rumaan Mulam anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 106 off 82 balls, hitting ten boundaries and a six. At the other end, Usman Ghani matched the effort with an equally impressive unbeaten 103 off 70 deliveries, which included eight fours and three sixes.
Facing a steep target of 228, Mahila Nutan High School struggled to find rhythm in their chase. Regular wickets halted any momentum, and the innings never gained stability. Praneet Salunke was the top scorer with 22, while Mayank Shirodkar remained unbeaten on 12 as the team finished at 93 for nine in 25 overs.
Shree Damodar’s bowlers ensured there was no comeback. Usman Ghani completed an outstanding all round performance by claiming three wickets for just nine runs in two overs. Sangram also made a strong impact with the ball, picking up three wickets for 14 runs in two overs.
With a comprehensive victory, Shree Damodar High School secured their place in the final, carrying strong momentum into the title clash.
