Colvale: Colvale Police have registered an FIR after an undertrial prisoner lodged a complaint alleging assault by fellow inmates inside the Central Jail, Colvale.
The case has been registered under Colvale Police Station Crime No. 65/2025 for offences punishable under Sections 115(2), 189(1), 191(2) read with 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, the incident occurred on October 24, 2025, at around 8:40 a.m. in the convict block of the Central Jail, Colvale. The complainant, Mohammed Rehan Sharif, who is an undertrial prisoner lodged in Block No. III, alleged that he was attacked by five jail inmates — Vally D’Costa, Amar Kalal, Salik Bepari, Mandrar Prabhu, and Vinod Sharma, all housed in the NDPS block of the jail.
The accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and assaulted the complainant with slaps, fist blows, and a mop stick, inflicting injuries on his face, head, and other parts of the body.
The complaint was formally lodged on October 30, 2025, at 12:55 p.m., leading to the registration of the FIR. The investigation is being carried out by PSI Swanand Prabhu.
