Margao: An unidentified male, believed to be between 40 and 45 years of age, was found dead in a semi-decomposed condition near Old Market Circle, Fatorda, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Fatorda Police Station, police received a phone call at around 2:03 pm from staff in the area informing them that a man was lying motionless near the market circle.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and found the body of an unknown male in a semi-decomposed state. An unnatural death (UD) case has been registered. The police conducted the necessary occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama at the scene.
Preliminary enquiries revealed that the deceased was homeless and frequently loitered around the SGPDA Market area. He was reportedly a chronic alcoholic.
The body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination.
