MARGAO: An unidentified male, aged between 30 and 40 years, was found dead on a footpath near the Ginger Hotel, Station Road, Margao, on February 7, 2026.
According to police sources, at around 3.48 pm, Margao Town Police received information from the Casualty Police of South District Hospital, Margao, stating that the unidentified man was brought dead to the casualty ward by the 108 emergency service. The case was reported as a person found lying on the footpath.
Police registered an unnatural death case vide Margao Town Police Station U.D. No. 11/2026 under Section 194 of the BNSS. During the enquiry, police visited the spot and conducted preliminary investigations, which revealed that the deceased was a chronic alcoholic and a beggar, known to sleep on the footpath near the railway station and nearby areas.
The dead body has been preserved at the South District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry in the matter is being carried out by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
