VASCO: An unidentified woman was found dead on a railway track near the IOC junction, close to MPT 9 Gate in Vasco, on January 18, 2026.
According to police sources, at around 9.47 am, Vasco police received a phone call from the PCR Margao control room stating that a caller had reported a dead body lying on the railway track heading towards the MPT 9 Gate near the IOC junction.
Acting on the information, police rushed to the spot and found the body of an unknown female, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years of age.
Police observed that the woman’s head and one hand were amputated, indicating that she was run over by a train.
During the scene panchanama, a tattoo was noticed on the right forearm of the deceased bearing the inscription “KARANSINGH KI PATNI PUSHPADEVI,” which may help in establishing her identity.
The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for further medico-legal formalities and identification.
Further enquiry in the case is being conducted by PSI Mayur Sawant of Vasco police station.
