PANAJI: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today praised and congragulated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for conceptualizing and implementing the pioneering Swayampurna Goa initiative.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing the cultivators in Goa online on to motivate them to adopt better farm practices.
“I would like to congratulate CM Dr. Pramod Sawant and his government for conceptualizing and implementing the pioneering Swayampurna Goa initiative. This ambitious program has been instrumental in fostering self-sufficiency among the people of Goa, and its impact has been duly recognized by PM Narendra Modi,” said Chouhan
He further said that our farmers need access to high-quality seeds, sufficient irrigation, and fertilizers in order to increase agricultural output.
“I assure the farmers of Goa that my government will extend all necessary support to ensure they receive these inputs and guarantee a productive and prosperous agricultural sector in Goa.” he added
Chouhan said that aall have to move towards natural farming and stop the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides which are very harmful to crops as well as the consumption of human beings.
The live-streaming of the interaction was held at 213 places across Goa, including panchayats, municipalities and zonal agriculture offices.
After PM Modi’s online interaction with Goans, this is the first time a Union minister interacted with farmers from the coastal state through the online mode.
“The primary objective was to motivate farmers to adopt better farming practices and contribute to making Goa self-sufficient. This initiative aimed to benefit rural agencies and farmers across the state,” the chief minister said.
