Raia: United Club of Verna secured their place in the semifinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy Intervillage Football Tournament after defeating Nuvem SC 8-7 in a thrilling penalty shootout at the Raia Panchayat Ground.
The match, which was tightly contested, saw Nuvem SC take an early lead with goals from Shenoy Colaco in the 8th minute and Inacio Colaco in the 14th minute. United Club of Verna responded with equalizers from Stephen Satarkar (29th minute) and Clifton Rebello (36th minute), bringing the score to 2-2 and forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
In the tiebreaker, Nuvem SC’s Leroy Colaco, Hudson Dias, Shubert Colaco, Cedor Colaco, and Inacio Colaco all converted their penalties. However, United Club of Verna proved to be the more clinical side, with Desmond Gama, Fulgancio Cardozo, Beniston Barretto, Jesloy Moniz, Josley Fernandes, and Stephen Satarkar successfully finding the net to secure the win.
Stephen Satarkar’s crucial contributions earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ award, which was presented by Francisco Pango.
With this victory, United Club of Verna moves on to the semifinals, where they will aim to continue their strong run in the tournament.
