PANAJI: In a commanding performance, United Club of Verna secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy with a decisive 6-2 victory over Mandopa Sporting Club. The match took place at the Raia Panchayat ground, organized by the Arlem Youth Association.
Jesloy Moniz was the standout player for Verna, netting a spectacular hat-trick. Desmon Pereira contributed with two goals, and Stephen Satarkar added another to complete the team’s impressive tally. Mandopa Sporting Club managed to score twice, with goals from Velington Almeida and Aden Pereira. Moniz’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
This victory underscores United Club of Verna’s strong form in the tournament, following their earlier 6-2 win against Carmona Sports Club, which propelled them to the quarterfinals of the 23rd Fr. Basilio Andrade Memorial tournament.
Mandopa Sporting Club, despite their valiant efforts, will need to regroup and focus on upcoming fixtures to improve their performance.
