MARGAO: United Club Seraulim blank United club Benaulim 3-0 to enter into the quarterfinals of the 30th Mandopa Cup football tournament organized by Mandopa Sports Club and played at their ground on Saturday.
The first chance to include the name on the score sheet was for United club Benaulim when Swiston Rebello capitalised on the half-line error ran down and only the goalkeeper was at his mercy but he failed to score and shoot over the crossbar in the 10th minute of play than a counter-attack came when goalkeeper took long ranger shoot which was well control by Seraulim Mohammad shail and beat the defence and goalkeeper of Benaulim and placed the ball over the goalkeeper into the net in the 12th minutes of play and again Seraulim got two chances to increase the lead in one to one situation but Keith Rodrigues failed to score and at the half time remained 1-0 lead in favour of Seraulim.
Changing over Benaulim tried to find the equaliser but Victor Fernandes and Junaid Khan’s shots were blocked by the Seraulim goalkeeper inthe 36th and 40th minutes of play. As the match progressed Seraulim scored two goals through Keith Rodrigues and Gladston Braganza in the 42nd and 53rd minute of play. With this win, Seraulim secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 30th Mandopa Football tournament
Mohammad Shail of United Club of Seraulim was awarded man of the match for his outstanding performance on the field by Avelino Silva General Secretary of the club
