Panaji: United Club Seraulim booked their place in the finals of the 17th St. Anthony Festival Cup after a nail-biting 6-5 win via tie-breaker against Guardian Angel SC in the second semi-final played at Moll Ground, Assolda.
The match began cautiously due to heavy rains, slowing down the pace of play. Seraulim struck first in the 25th minute through Klusner Pereira, but Guardian Angel SC responded swiftly with an equalizer from Jaison Dias in the 31st minute. With both teams locked at 1-1 till full-time, the game headed into a tense penalty shootout.
In the tie-breaker, Guardian Angel SC converted through Fedrich Fernandes, Godwin D’Costa, Ivo Costa, and Cyril Dias. Seraulim, however, held their nerve with successful strikes from Ashley Fernandes, Klusner Pereira, Flocio Fernandes, Oliver D’Souza, and Selney Fernandes to clinch the win.
Klusner Pereira, who scored in regular time and netted in the shootout, was named Man of the Match and was felicitated by Custodio Fernandes, President of Assolda Club.
USC Seraulim will now face Margao Sports Club in the grand finale, scheduled for Sunday, 10th August 2025 at Moll Ground, Assolda.
