Navelim: United Club Verna secured a spot in the semifinals of the 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy, organized by Navelim Sporting Club and played at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Club Davorlim.
The match got off to a flying start as Johann Abranches put Verna ahead in the 4th minute with a precise shot from inside the box, beating Davorlim goalkeeper Francisco Colaco. Verna continued to press, with William Niasso narrowly missing a chance after a pass from Peter Colaco. The lead was doubled in the 24th minute when Sheldon Fernandes found the net, sending UC Verna into halftime 2-0 ahead.
The second half saw both teams creating opportunities, but Verna were unable to extend their lead, and Davorlim failed to find a way back into the game. Late in the match, UC Verna was awarded a penalty, which was brilliantly saved by Francisco Colaco, keeping the scoreline unchanged.
Myron Fernandes, goalkeeper of UC Verna, was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from former Sesa player Minguel Rodrigues.
With this win, United Club Verna advances to the semifinals, keeping their hopes alive for lifting the prestigious trophy.
