MARGAO: United Club Verna got the better of the Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to enter into the semifinals of the All Goa Navelim Villagers Union trophy organised by Navelim Villagers Union and played at Rosary Church

It was Navelim villagers Union that were first to miss the target in the 5th minute of play when Noah Luis’s shot hit the post and went out of play then in the 24th minute of play Elrich Fernandes of United club Verna scored by running down and beat the defence and tap the ball over the goalkeeper of Navelim Mehboob Hussain in the net and remained 1-0 at the breather
After the resumption of second half Navelim’s Ronaldo Pereira gave a thorough pass to Nash Pereira but he failed to capitalize on the chance. As the match progressed in the last quarter United Club of Verna wasted one chance on three occasions as Navelim’s goalkeeper made some smart saves
Then Navelim made two substitutes in the form of Terrance Miranda and Lyndon Cardozo but couldn’t find the equaliser till the final whistle.
United Club Verna will meet United Club Benaulim in the semifinal.
