VALPOI: MLA Dr. Deviya Rane lauded the work of the Thane Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal (SGM), calling its unity “commendable” and urging the body to continue promoting social development through collective efforts.
She was speaking at the Mandal’s felicitation and academic excellence programme, where dignitaries from various fields and children excelling in education were honoured.
“The concept of positive thoughts grows through the work of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. By maintaining such unity, we remove differences and create a new mantra of humanity. Every Panchayat should promote development through unity,” Dr. Rane said. She also promised efforts to boost rural tourism in Parye constituency and take it to the global stage.
On the occasion, Goa Legislative Assembly under secretary Adv. Mohan Gaonkar, yoga instructor Vishal Gavas, and former president Uttam Gaonkar were felicitated. ZP Devyani Gavas, former sarpanch Nilesh Parwar, deputy sarpanch Sonia Gavkar, SGM president Gopal Naik, and secretary Balkrishna Naik were also present.
Children of Thane Government Secondary School presented a welcome song, after which dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets. The programme was compered by Abhay Gaonkar, while secretary Balkrishna Naik proposed a vote of thanks.
SGM president Gopal Naik said the Mandal has reached the hearts of devotees through its activities, while former sarpanch Nilesh Parwar highlighted its role in encouraging all-round development of children.
Dr. Rane concluded by congratulating the Mandal for its excellent work and urging continued focus on education and social development.
