Pernem: An unidentified foreign national, believed to be around 40 years old, died while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim after he was found lying unconscious in Morjim village in the early hours of Thursday.
According to police, a wireless message was received at 5:54 pm on March 12, 2026 from the casualty police (CP) at GMC Bambolim informing that the unidentified male, admitted in Ward No. 100 as a “found lying” case, had expired during treatment.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that at around 4:00 am on March 12, a local resident passing by noticed the man lying outside Family Tree Restaurant in Morjim, within Pernem taluka. The passerby immediately alerted emergency services and called a 108 ambulance, which shifted the man to Community Health Centre (CHC) Tuem for medical assistance.
After receiving initial treatment at CHC Tuem, the patient was referred to GMC Bambolim for further treatment. However, he later succumbed while undergoing treatment in the hospital ward.
Police said the deceased is an unknown foreign national, approximately 40 years old, and no foul play is suspected at this stage.
The body has been preserved at the GMC morgue in Bambolim for identification and further procedures.
