PALOLEM: An unidentified male was found dead at Palolem in Canacona, prompting police to initiate an unnatural death (UD) inquiry.
According to police sources, on 01/02/2026 at around 11.56 hrs, the Medical Officer of CHC Canacona informed authorities that a male person was brought dead to the casualty by a 108 ambulance.
The individual was reportedly found lying at Palolem, Canacona.
Following the information, police visited CHC Canacona and conducted an inquest panchanama over the dead body. The body was later preserved at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
Subsequent enquiries at Palolem with local residents revealed that the deceased has been identified as Ramdas, aged approximately 55 to 60 years. He is a native of Odisha and had been working in Goa as a painter for the past nearly 20 years. Further personal details of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
Police stated that on 01/02/2026 at around 8.30 hrs, the deceased was found lying at Palolem and was later declared brought dead upon arrival at CHC Canacona by the 108 ambulance service.
A scene of occurrence panchanama was also conducted at Palolem. Further enquiry in the case is being carried out by PSI Vishal Velip of Canacona Police Station.
