MAPUSA: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) discovered a serious infraction involving an unregistered packaged drinking water supplier during a surprise inspection at the Bodgeshwar Zatra.
Under the direction of FDA officer Richard Noronha, the inspection team discovered a car delivering bottled water to several Zatra kiosks.
However, the FDA had to gather samples for testing because the supplier was not operating with the required legitimate licenses. The FDA team went to the water supplier’s facility in Tivim for more research after making this discovery.
When they arrived, the proprietor was uncooperative and the establishment was closed. Officials used the back entrance to enter the unit after requesting assistance from Colvale Police.
They found out the provider was operating without a valid license during this check.
Officials from the FDA said the previously licensed unit had stopped operations two years ago. Nevertheless, it still had a laboratory and filtering equipment.
It was also discovered that the labeling on the provided bottled water did not adhere to the rules.
The FDA consequently shut down the facility and declared that a thorough investigation will be carried out, followed by any required legal steps.
On the second day of the Bodgeshwar Zatra inspections, the crackdown persisted.
Further inspections of the stalls by FDA inspectors and the Mapusa municipality revealed that some had been reopened late at night.
The seizure of gas cylinders, stoves, and cooking equipment from the stalls highlighted the continuous efforts to ensure event safety.
