PANAJI: Education is manifestation of perfection and it empowers to open doors of knowledge and opportunities crucial to become successful in life stated Minister for Social Welfare, Subhash Phaldesai who was addressing the gathering as Chief guest at the 38th Convocation Ceremony organized by Indira Gandhi Open University, Regional Center Panaji.
The Minister on the occasion conferred degrees of various disciplines to 180 students who have excelled in their respective disciplines.
Phaldesai speaking further urged students to uphold the values of integrity, perseverance and innovation in the interest of society and the nation at large. He asked students to shoulder responsibilities to make difference in society by making use of their knowledge.
The Minister congratulating the students highlighted the exemplary work of IGNOU in imparting higher education thereby shaping destiny of students. IGNOU, he said, from past many years is committed to providing inclusive, accessible and quality education.This Regional Centre since many years in Goa is extending learning opportunities to learners from all walks of life, he said.
Regional Director Regional Center Panaji, Dr. Srinivasan in his address emphasized the role of IGNOU in the field of education. He said innovation and research are the pillars of progress, and he was proud to highlight the University’s remarkable contributions in this domain. “Our faculty and students have engaged in ground breaking research, securing numerous grants and patents. Through industry collaboration and research-driven initiatives, we are and shaping the future of knowledge creation and technological advancement,” he said.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), Dr. Srinivasan said the university has introduced transformative reforms to enhance the learning experience. “We have adopted a multidisciplinary curriculum, skill-based education, and multiple entry and exit options for students . Digital learning platforms and Al- driven methodologies have been integrated into our teaching process, ensuring accessibility and engagement. Furthermore, credit based evaluation systems and vocational training programs are preparing our students for global competitiveness. 26 academic programmes are launched under NEP FYUP framework we have also introduced 16 programmes in the areas of Indian knowledge system,” he informed.
Center coordinators, Dr Ranju Cuncolkar, Shri Prakash Rane, Shri Bhanudas Pednekar, Coordinators Ms Diksha Naik, Shri Sunil Kumar, parents of students and others were present at the function.
