PONDA: Amid restrictions on public movement, the three Ganesh Mandals in Ponda City have reduced the Ganesh festival to one and half days consecutively the second year because of the COVID19 pandemic.
Thus the usual pomp and gaiety is missing this time also at Sarvajanik Ganesh Celebrations.
However, in the household Ganesh Celebration, despite pandemic time, people appeared in the festival mood. Suddenly, many people flock to market for Matoli Bazaar and buy decorative and other essential items for celebration for the past two days ahead of Chaturthi Celebration on 10 September.
In Ponda, people came out in huge numbers for last-minute shopping.
Massive traffic jams were also witnessed in Ponda City several times due to the rush of the crowd for Chaturthi Bazaar.
Though Covid has hit every citizen affecting their income, the spirit is high as Ganesh Festival is the biggest festival. People are celebrating it as affordable to them according to their income.
People are demanding that police remain busy issuing challenges and control traffic jams to ease traffic flow.
