PANAJI: North police of Goa have taken into custody a man who has been sought in an attempted murder case that dates back more than a year.
Farook, a 25-year-old from Uttarakhand, has been apprehended. December 3, 2022, was the date of the occurrence. He had allegedly hacked a West Bengali woman in broad daylight close to her leased flat on Azad Road near Kaloor because she had ended their affair.
In order to treat her hand and back problems, she needed surgery. Since then, the accused has fled into hiding.
He was charged by the police with attempting to kill someone and intentionally causing harm by means of a dangerous weapon (Section 307).
He was eventually apprehended from Goa by a North police unit under the command of Inspector Prathapachandran, using information from his cell tower location.
