VADDEM: Residents of Vaddem-Chaferan in Vasco have been grappling with an acute shortage of drinking water for over a year, forcing locals to depend on alternative and often unreliable sources to meet their daily needs.
Frustration among residents reached a peak when a group of locals confronted the Assistant Engineer of the PWD water supply department at Baina, demanding immediate intervention to resolve the prolonged crisis. The residents expressed concern over the lack of regular supply and the difficulties faced by families, particularly during peak summer months.
According to locals, despite repeated complaints and follow-ups with the authorities, the issue remained unresolved, leaving nearly 40 households affected by the disruption. They pointed out that the erratic supply has severely impacted daily routines, with many forced to purchase water or rely on private tankers.
During the interaction, PWD officials acknowledged the issue and assured residents that steps are being taken to restore the water supply at the earliest. Authorities informed that a proposal for laying a new pipeline in the area is currently pending approval, which is expected to streamline and improve the distribution system.
Officials further assured that once the necessary clearances are obtained, the work will be taken up on priority, bringing much-needed relief to the affected households.
Residents have now urged the department to expedite the approval process and ensure that the long-pending issue is resolved without further delay.
