VALPOI: In a chilling turn of events that has shaken the quiet village of Ambede in Nagargaon, the Valpoi Police have arrested Vasudev Ozekar in connection with the alleged murder of 24-year-old Shravan Devidas Barve.
The young man’s lifeless body was discovered near the revered Hanuman Temple, triggering a swift police investigation and deep concern among local residents.
According to police sources, Barve’s body was found earlier this week under suspicious circumstances. Initially thought to be a case of accidental death, an autopsy later confirmed that Barve died as a result of asphyxiation, ruling out any possibility of natural causes.
The police soon began to treat the case as a homicide, and a manhunt was launched for suspects who may have had contact with the victim in the hours leading up to his death.
Vasudev Ozekar, a resident of the same locality, was arrested following preliminary evidence that reportedly linked him to the scene.
Sources indicate that there may have been a personal dispute or prior enmity between Ozekar and Barve, although officials are yet to confirm the exact motive.
Barve’s family, visibly distraught, has demanded justice and alleged that their son was deliberately murdered, possibly lured to the temple area under false pretenses.
“Shravan was not the kind of person to get into trouble. We believe someone planned this,” said a family member.
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Meanwhile, Vasudev Ozekar remains in custody, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
