CANACONA: In a spirit of nature-love and care, Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya High School celebrated Vanamahotsav 2025 with the theme “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam,” showcasing vibrancy, creativity, and purpose. The event featured a poster-making competition for Std V students on the theme of dedicating a plant in honor of one’s mother. The day began with a special assembly led by Class IX students, who delivered speeches, poems, and presentations with clarity and conviction, reminding everyone that every leaf, branch, and tree is a lifeline to be cherished. The school’s corridors came alive with creative posters linking motherhood to Mother Nature, reflecting the students’ pledge to nurture a plant as lovingly as a mother raises her child.
The celebration was further enriched by the visit of Forest Department officers who distributed over 200 plant saplings to students, including medicinal, ornamental, fruit-bearing, flowering, and spice varieties. RFO Sulochana Gaonkar and RFO Sufala Rane spoke to the children about plant care and highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy environment. Headmistress Varsha Naik Gaonkar welcomed the guests, while PTA President Dhananjay Desai and Executive Committee members offered their support with their presence.
