PANAJI: Varca Veterans and USC Seraulim Veterans have secured their places in the final of the Benaulim Veterans Football Tournament, currently being held at the SAG Ground in Benaulim.
In the first semi-final, Varca Veterans edged past Colva Veterans with a 2-1 victory. The hero of the match was Elvis Fernandes, who netted both goals for Varca. Rocky Goes managed to pull one back for Colva, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
The second semi-final between USC Seraulim and Benaulim Veterans was a closely fought encounter. Angelo Fernandes gave Benaulim the lead, only for Jess Cardozo to level the score for Seraulim. With the match ending in a draw, the outcome was decided via a tiebreaker, where USC Seraulim held their nerve to win 6-5 and book their spot in the final.
Kennedy, the goalkeeper of USC Seraulim, was instrumental in the shootout and was rightfully named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Andrew Ferrao, Executive Member of the Goa Football Association (GFA). The tournament now awaits a thrilling final between Varca and Seraulim Veterans.
