VASCO: Vasco Congress leader Nandadeep Raut on Wednesday alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was used as a “systematic ploy” by the Bharatiya Janata Party to delete votes of sections perceived to be close to opposition parties. He announced a mega ward-wise campaign to help affected voters restore their names in the electoral roll.
Addressing mediapersons in Vasco, Raut claimed that several genuine voters had found their names missing from the rolls during the revision process. “This is not an administrative lapse but a calculated move to target voters who are believed to support opposition parties. Democracy cannot function if selective deletions are carried out under political pressure,” he said.
Raut stated that the Congress would launch a door-to-door drive across all wards to collect documents of those whose names were deleted and assist them in filing the necessary forms for re-inclusion. “We will personally ensure that every deleted voter submits the required documents. Our teams will visit each ward, verify details, and coordinate with election authorities to restore the names at the earliest,” he said.
He further assured residents that the party would stand firmly with them and resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral process. “No genuine voter should suffer because of political interference. We will not allow anyone’s name to be struck off the rolls due to pressure tactics. If required, we are prepared to take up the matter at every appropriate forum,” Raut added.
Calling upon citizens to check their names in the electoral list immediately, he urged those affected to contact local Congress workers for assistance. “Every single vote matters. We will fight to protect the voting rights of the people of Vasco,” he said.
