VASCO: A resident of Vasco was allegedly cheated of ₹1,83,600 after opening a fraudulent APK file sent in the name of an RTO e-challan.
According to the complaint filed by Lalsab Bagwan, a resident of Dactolem, Vasco, the incident occurred on 07/02/2026 at 12:48 hrs. The complainant stated that an unknown person sent him an APK file purportedly related to an RTO e-challan, which contained an image of his brother.
Believing it to be genuine, the complainant opened and viewed the file. Subsequently, an amount of ₹1,83,600 was debited from his HDFC Bank account without his authorisation.
Vasco police have registered an offence under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Plato Carvalho of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
