VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Wednesday morning launched the pre mosson works by starting the de weeding of the Maimolem lake in the presence of MMC Chairperson Girish Borker, City ward councillor Shami Salkar and other municipal councilors
Salkar later stated that the works were launched to prevent flooding in the area
“There are two channels that will be opened from this work so that there is no blockage and there is no flooding during monsoons . The works are taken at around Rs 1.70 crores and this is the first time we are opening the Channel in the Maimolem lake . We have asked the contractor to continue de weeding till the start of monsoons and the de weeding machine will be here till April so that there is no scope for weeds to grow again,” said Salkar.
MMC Chairperson Girish Borker stated that his wards were the most affected in the monsoons being a low lying area
“Ward no 16 has so many low lying area that had been affected during monsoon but this time round , the pre monsoon works have been taken way ahead of time . I urge the people of my ward to come at the location while we carry out the cleaning so as to advise us if any other area needs to be cleaned while the works are being carried out,” said Borker.
Vasco BJP Mandal President and councillor Deepak Naik said that pre mosson works starting at the right time will help a lot of people in the nosoons
“The water coming from my ward in Baina will directly flow out through these opened channels and prevent water logging or flooding . I congratulate the MLA Krishna Salkar for having prioritised the pre monsoon works”, said Naik.
