VASCO: In a crucial development, Vasco Police on Tuesday arrested 21-year-old Mohammed Junnu from Behria, Sivan District, Bihar, who was accused of sexually abusing a minor girl in Vasco. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community, led to the minor becoming four months pregnant.
The arrest operation was executed by a diligent Vasco Police team comprising PSI Rohan Madgaonkar, PC Ranjit Vaigankar, and Dattaraj Tarkar. The team successfully located and detained the accused in Bihar, bringing him into custody.
According to reports, Mohammed Jinu, a resident of Mangoor Hill, Vasco, was booked with serious offences under Section 64 of the BNS and Sections 4, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The charges were filed following a complaint registered on Thursday morning, which alleged that in May 2024, Jinu befriended a minor girl in Shantinagar, Vasco, and subsequently sexually abused her, leading to her pregnancy.
The investigation is being meticulously handled by PSI Archana Gaonkar of Vasco Police Station, under the close supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
