VASCO: In a late-night operation, Vasco police arrested three men near the Vasco Railway Station after they were found in possession of a large quantity of ganja valued at over ₹5.34 lakh in the open market.
According to police, the raid was carried out between 8.57 pm on September 17 and 12.20 am on September 18, beside the railway station’s platform office. The accused, identified as Dinesh Chauhan alias Gangu, a resident of Vaddem, Vasco, along with Sapneshwar Gouda and Nilanchal Gouda, both hailing from Odisha, were apprehended during the operation.
Police said Chauhan and Sapneshwar were caught red-handed with 5.34 kg of ganja worth Rs 5.34 Lakhs . Nilanchal was found to be accompanying them and was arrested for abetment in the crime.
The trio were arrested under Sections 20(b)(ii)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. They were produced before the court and remanded to four days of police custody.
The investigation is being conducted by PSI Priyanka Patil of Vasco Police Station, under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
