VASCO: Vasco Police have launched a week-long public awareness initiative during the ongoing Shree Dev Damodar Saptah, focusing on cybercrime and drug abuse prevention.
As part of the drive, 20 large roll-up standees highlighting key messages on cyber safety and substance abuse have been placed at key locations across Vasco, while 10,000 A5-size flyers—carrying cyber awareness information on one side and anti-drug messaging on the other—are being distributed with the help of Cyber Yodha members from the Vasco Sub-Division.
Police said these awareness efforts will continue throughout the Saptah, which is being observed from July 30 to August 5, and the material will be reused for future events and festivals in the area to maintain public outreach.
In view of the rising inflow of migrants into Goa via trains, Vasco Railway Police have also intensified security checks at the Vasco railway station. PSI along with police constables and head constables have been deployed to verify the identity of migrants alighting from trains and inspect their baggage to rule out the possibility of any explosive or illegal items being brought in during the festival period.
